I offer one-to-one and couple counselling for adults 18 and over, covering a wide range of issues. Depending on your needs and availability, you have the choice of in-person sessions at my home office in Lasswade , just outside of Edinburgh, online sessions via Zoom, or outdoor ‘walk and talk’ counselling.
I am a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their ethical framework. I have extensive awareness of and training in equalities issues. I have worked with many clients from LGBTQ+ communities and am an ally.
Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £46 or £40 for students or unwaged. The format can be face to face, via Zoom or outdoor ‘walk and talk’ to suit your needs and schedule.
Why Counselling?
We all have times in our lives when we feel confused, anxious or unhappy. Sometimes this happens as a result of our life experiences, but sometimes we just feel that way for reasons we can’t quite explain. This isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s just part of being human.
Counselling provides you with a safe, confidential space to explore and work through the things that are affecting your emotional health. These may include long-term depression or anxiety, a history of traumatic experiences, relationship difficulties, chronic illness or pain, work-related stress, or many other issues. Most importantly, a counsellor will listen to you in a way that most people don’t. She or he will also guide you as you remember, reflect and gently challenge yourself to begin making changes.
My Approach
Because every person is unique, I use what is called a Pluralistic approach to counselling. This simply means that I work with you to identify what style of therapy will work best for you. I draw significantly upon Person Centred Therapy, Existential Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic theories, CBT and Creative counselling approaches.
